SEPTEMBER 19TH 2009
Silver Anniversary/Deed Ceremony
Plans Underway
...by Delane Cox
Mark your calendars now for September
19, 2009
That is the prospective date for the
Wishing Spring Gallery Silver Anniversary Celebration and Deed Transfer.
A committee is already hard at work on
ideas to make this a spectacular event. Many ideas have been
discussed, and more will probably come up. Right now, here is what
we can definitely tell you:
There will be a grand, day-long
celebration and dedication ceremony at the Gallery, Studio, and
surrounding property. The public will be invited to help the VAC
celebrate, and fun events are being planned. The Deed Ceremony
will involve as many of the "old-timers" who helped make the Gallery
what it is today.
The Committee is looking for names of
our original founders and "barn workers". If you know any of them
and know how to get in touch with them, please pass their names on to
the Planning Committee It would sure help in finding them.
And, there will be a theme for the day.
Ready? The theme will be Buffaloes! After all, they were the
last legal residents of the barn before the VAC turned it into the
Gallery we all know and love today. It's only fitting that they be
recognized...and it will be fun too!
There is one event that we are encouraging
every VAC member to take part in. We want each person to submit a
piece of artwork created around the Buffalo theme. It may be a
painting, it may be a piece of pottery, it may be a buffalo on a
stick...what can you come up with? All the buffalo examples will
be on display in the Studio! So, get your thinking cap on and
start working on your buffalo artwork.
The Gallery will sport a new banner out
front around September 1, announcing our 25th anniversary. There are
plans for several media features, also. And, did we mention food?
What's a celebration with out refreshments?
There will be many more activities
announced in the near future. We hope each one of you will find
one of them to work with. After all, this is YOUR Village Art
Club, and YOUR Wishing Spring Gallery. It is a wonderful addition
to the community, and we should be very proud that we have had the
Gallery in operation for 25 great years.
If you have any ideas for the BIG DAY,
don't hesitate to tell any one of the committee members. It may be
something they had not thought of, and it might work out wonderfully for
the celebration.
In the meantime, it is time to start
thinking about your "buffalo art or craft" for our art show!
